Every action, no matter how big or small, builds a future for our planet.
Since the new La Rochelle Aquarium was built, its founders have wanted to act on their involvement in protecting the planet. As an energy-guzzling site, this factor was taken into account from the outset by incorporating technologies and procedures that help to reduce the centre’s carbon footprint.
- Installation of heat pumps to optimise energy consumption (for 1000 KW supplied, the machines consume 250KW)
- Use of low-consumption tubes
- Publications on paper from sustainable managed forests
- Recycling of cartridges – batteries – paper – cardboard – fluorescent tubes
- Biological pest control in the greenhouse
- Installation of 104m² of photovoltaic panels: Production is retransmitted on an educational panel in the hall, demonstrating the instantaneous production of solar energy to visitors. This installation produces the energy requirements of five 4-person households, or a total of 20 people.
