La Rochelle Aquarium has been awarded the “Tourism & Disability” label for motor, mental and hearing deficiencies.
In June 2004, La Rochelle Aquarium was awarded the “Tourism & Disability” label for motor and mental deficiencies. It was one of the first two tourist attractions to receive this accreditation in Charente-Maritime.
It then installed induction loops for improving conditions for the hard-of-hearing and to cut out any background noise for them at the reception desks, the cloakrooms/audio guide counter and in both amphitheatres (for showing films or any other conference upon request).
All of our reception staff has been trained to welcome visitors with disabilities.
This initiative started out being voluntary – dating back to when the Aquarium was built in 1999-2000.
This resolve to improve visiting conditions for the disabled also involves listening to our visitors – and a visitors’ book is now available for them to write in at reception.
