Biology

The longfin bannerfish is characterized by a long tendril extending from its fourth dorsal fin.

Its lives around coral reefs, often more than 15 m deep. It travels either on its own or with its partner during the mating season, but rarely in large groups. Juvenile longfins clean the parasites off other fish. The adults feed on plankton and the occasional bottom-dwelling invertebrate.
